Heim Pál Children's Hospital Expansion Competition

The aim all entries had to achieve was to maintain normal operation during the phases of the expansion. Parts of an existing building was to be demolished and all of its connections were maintained int he new „B” wing.

The new building was designed with an open grid and plain floor slabs to accomodate any type of future technologies while connections to the existing building „A” have been retained. A three stage zone system serves the hygienic requirements of the patients wards: the outer shell is for the visitors, the wards form the transition zone while the interior circulation zone is the cleanest of the three.
