Iparművészeti Múzeum Competition

1091 Budapest, Üllői út 33-37.

A new Design Museum was to be added to the famous Hungarian Art Nouveau building as well as the whole exhibition was to be reorganized and enlarged, too.

Keeping the main entrance was an obvious choice. The most interesting part was the reorganisation of the internal circulation with adding one of the internal (not yet used) courtyards into the circulation scheme. The glass roof of the main exhibition hall was redefined as a piece of the exhibition as we added new exhibition areas around it for the world famous carpet collection.

The facade of the new addition uses cool geometric shaped pyrogranite cladding which provides a healthy contrast to the existing facades.
